Ceruloplasmin
Ceruloplasmin is produced in the liver and is used to carry more than 95% of the body's copper. Copper is very important to the body as it helps in the production of energy for the body, helping the body's central nervous system function, and in the formation of connective tissue. The blood test is used to measure levels of ceruloplasmin in the body. Often used to assess Wilson's disease. The disease causes too much copper to amass in the liver, the brain, and other organs. It can also be ordered to assess if Wilson's disease treatment is working.
