The Hemoglobin A1c also called A1c or glycated hemoglobin is hemoglobin with glucose attached. The test is recommended by the American Diabetes Association in the assessment of blood glucose levels to determine diabetes risk. It is recommended that A1c testing should be performed routinely in all patients with diabetes. The A1c test reflects the average blood sugar over the past two to three months.
