The gut panel looks at how well your digestive system is working. It may help pinpoint underlying causes for digestive issues, such as:
Irritable bowel (syndrome)
Gut inflammation (IBD)
Acid reflux and ulcers
This panel assesses factors that influence digestive function and health, including:
H. pylori infection
Gluten antibodies titers
Preparation: When testing for this panel, it's best if you can get your blood drawn in the morning. Some tests in this panel should be taken after an overnight (>8h) fast. You can drink water, but do not eat any food during this time.
For at least 2 weeks, avoid drugs that may interfere with the Helicobacter pylori test in this panel, including:
Proton pump inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole)
This same test may not be suitable for people with phenylketonuria.
Also, avoid eating fruits and taking vitamin C supplements for at least 24 hours before blood collection.
